  • What do we do after we migrate?

Microsoft Workloads on AWS: The Stats

We then explored the statistics about hosting Microsoft workloads on an AWS cloud environment, such as:

  • 70% of Enterprise applications are Windows based (IDC).
  • 82% of Windows applications are still on-premises (IDC).
  • 50% of enterprise customers are planning to migrate to the cloud within the next 24 months (Gartner).
  • 43% of on-premises SQL/Windows Servers are version 2008 or older (TSO Logic).
  • 91% of enterprise customers have Windows Servers or SQL licensing (Microsoft).

Cloud Priorities for UK Organisations

John then took us through the typical priorities for an organisation that is interested in adopting cloud computing. This included:

  • Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Machine Learning (ML)

  • Outsourcing changes

John explained this is because organisations want to do more with less, and make their money go further – particularly in the economic climate we’re currently in.
